Tag: Philadelphia Fusion

One of the most dominant teams in the Overwatch League, the Philadelphia Fusion participated in the inaugural season and quickly rose to dominance. The Fusion are based and operated out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are owned by the same organization that owns the NHL team Philadelphia Flyers, Comcast Spectator. Their team logo is a stylized P with atoms swirling around it, and it prominently features the team colours of orange and black. Additionally, they are part of the Atlantic South Division.

Philadelphia Fusion Active Roster

The current roster of the Philadelphia Fusion contains 7 active players. They are as follows:

  • Jaehyeok “Carpe” Lee – DPS
  • Gael “Poko” Gouzerch – Tank
  • Josue “Eqo” Corona – DPS
  • Kyung-bo “Alarm” Kim – Support
  • Daniel “FunnyAstro” Hathaway – Support 2019-10-30 [32]
  • Donggyu “Mano” Kim – Tank
  • Niclas “sHockWave” Jensen – DPS

Although the Fusion did see a number of players depart their roster following the end of the 2020 season, they maintained a robust roster size and likely won’t have to prioritize rebuilding before the next semester. A number of their core veteran players, such as Carpe, Poko, and Eqo, stayed with the Fusion. This is likely because the Fusion have seen a high level of success in their 3 seasons of OWL competition, as they were always a safe Overwatch bet.

Philadelphia Fusion Achievements

The Fusion made a strong debut in the first season of the Overwatch League, finishing with the 6th best record but going on to finish in second place in the playoffs. This has been a bit of a hurdle for the Fusion, who have a streak of second-place finishes. In the 2019 season, they similarly fell slightly short of the top spot, finishing in a tie for 3rd/4th. In the 2020 season of the Overwatch League, the Fusion developed a rivalry with the San Francisco Shock, as the two were widely regarded as the two best teams in NA division of the League. Unfortunately, the Fusion were often outdueled by the Shock and other underdog teams, even though this went against the Overwatch League betting odds. They finished second in 3 major events over the course of the season, and ended with the second-best record of all teams. In Grand Finals, they finished in 4th place overall. With a strong base of core players and a hunger for the top spot, expect the Fusion to continue to be a top team in the OWL.
